Cairo Palace by Santos Cairo Palace is a hotel that was built in 2019 and is situated on the main road that leads into Kakuma Town, next to the refugee camp. Everyone in Kakuma Refugee Camp, Kenya, is an artist: they cook food using basic food rations, build their own houses, fix, mend, innovate, create & dream! This collection celebrates the every-day lives & achievements of people living in Kakuma. ‘My Life is Art’ is a term coined by our charity’s spearhead-Emmanuel Jal-who believes creativity is an integral tool for young people to develop, become problem solvers, carve out purpose & overcome adversity. All T-shirts are printed art-works drawn and painted by young people in Kakuma in workshops led by My Start. Some marks on the t-shirt are part of the original drawings.
